Words On My Radar (Issue 1)

Hey readers,

One of my favorite things about blogging is being able to read other people’s awesome blogs and then being able to share those bloggers’ great content with my readers. I’ve been sharing a lot of these articles on Twitter for some time, but I’m afraid that a lot of these articles are just falling into the abyss and, therefore, being overlooked. So, for a long time, I’ve been wanting to gather all of my favorite articles from each week into one post.

Hence: “Words On My Radar,” a new, weekly post on the C2C that will be coming to you every Friday (except on holidays).

Words On My Radar will feature articles from some of the best bloggers out there on the subjects of writing, life, and blogging.

Why share these bloggers and articles with you every week?

Because I’m big info junkie and I you know you all are, too. So I hope you enjoy it!

(By the way: please let me know if you enjoy this new series. I’d love your feedback.)

You all have a great friday.

much love,

Ollin

How to Answer the Entrepreneurial Question: “Just Who the Hell Do You Think You Are?” via @copyblogger @marciahoeck

In mid-August, I was just about to give up on writing my eBook when I read this post by the fabulous Marcia Hoeck over at Copyblogger. Her post focuses on entrepreneurs, but since every writer these days is being forced into becoming an entrepreneur, it’s a great read for writers too. If you are a writer, you need to read this post. Thank you Marcia for saving me just in the nick of time! I got right back to finishing my eBook after I read this post. Who knew the problem I was facing was an entrepreneurial one?

The Case For The Greater New Orleans Area: Why We Matter And Why We Should Exist

What seems at first like a defense of one historic American city ends up being so much more than that. Maybe the author of this WordPress Freshly Pressed post did not intend it, but I think he just made a case for not only his city, but for the country, and maybe for humanity as well.

BAMF Girls Club: Episode 1 via @EW @comediva

Hermione, Bella, Katniss, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo and other bad ass female characters (from popular fiction) move in together. Hilarity ensues.

The New Normal (Pilot) via @Hulu

I literally cried in the first five minutes of this new show from Glee creator (and writer) Ryan Murphy. The New Normal could end up becoming the first popular sitcom to feature a gay couple as the main leads of the show (and not just part of the ensemble or as supporting characters). So, if you like the pilot like I did, let’s all tune-in to make sure the show’s successful!

What a wonderful idea, Ollin! Getting curated content in categories with brief synopses is a wonderful service in this world of information overload. I’m glad you are doing this. Your categories and choices are perfect! Thank you.
